Hunting overhead high to toe-level low in out-of-the-way used bookstores. Sifting through stacks in secondhand shops. Wedging into doujinshi specialty shops to search shelves packed with books by the jumbled hundreds. That's what it takes to find the best of yesterday's doujinshi.
Meanwhile, new doujinshi come out constantly at events across Japan. Little hunting is required; simply seek out the book's creating circle and buy...after, of course, you've made the journey to the show site, stood in line sometimes several hours to get into the event itself, waded through often-thick crowds inside to reach the circle's table, and then gotten into that circle's line, hoping their new book wouldn't sell out before your turn came.
The thrill of the hunt for the old, the urgent journey to get the new--it's all part of Japan's booming doujinshi subculture, and we love it. This is our eighth year of finding goodies galore as we seek the doujinshi we crave. We can do it for you, too!
