If you're a first-time customer, please read this carefully before placing an order. It will help answer any questions you may have.
Who is KirinPro Kansai?
How does this work, anyway?
1. You request a certain circle's doujinshi you want by cutting-and-pasting the order form
into an e-mail, which you send to us at kirinpro@gmail.com. Please be sure to fill out the form as completely as you can, and please note that we require your real name (not your online alias) and shipping address information for all orders. We cannot accept an order without this information.
If you're a first-time customer, proof that you are at least 18 years old will also be required for us to be able to accept your order. For a list of acceptable forms of proof of legal age, please e-mail us at kirinpro@gmail.com before ordering.
Due to serious increases in our real-life work schedules, our Search Service is temporarily closed. We plan to reopen it later this year.
For now, our main service is the KirinPro Doujinshi Event Pick-Up Service (for doujinshi published December 2005 to present--or before that, if you want us to look!). We will accept orders for doujinshi sold at Haru Comic City (March 19), Super Comic City (May 3-4), the Summer Comic Market (August 11-13), Comic City Spark (October 7-8), and the Winter Comic Market in late December.
2. We will send you a confirmation e-mail once your order is received. Your order will then be forwarded to Japan.
FOR ORDERS SHIPPED TO A U.S. ADDRESS, we accept payment by PayPal (from a verified account only), money orders--any kind of money order (from the post office, Western Union, from the bank, whatever) is fine--or personal checks drawn on a U.S. bank.
FOR ORDERS SHIPPED TO AN ADDRESS IN CANADA OR ELSEWHERE IN THE WORLD, we accept payment by PayPal (from a verified account only), money orders in U.S. funds, or Western Union money transfer. Money orders can come from the post office (i.e. International Postal Money Order) or a bank--it doesn't matter, as long as they are issued in U.S. dollars. You can also mail US$ cash if you want, although it's very risky and we don't recommend it. If you want to pay by US$ cash, we suggest you mail it via Registered Mail.
We are not responsible for payment that gets lost in the mail.
Please be sure to make all forms of payment payable to Nancy Visminas.
3. After we get your book(s), your order will be packed with protective cardboard in an air-cushion mailing envelope, and shipped directly to you from Japan by Air Mail.
I'm a first-time customer. Why is proof of legal age required for you to accept my order? The book I want doesn't have adult content...I think...
Can you ship an order anywhere in the world?
On my favorite circle's website, they have a page where they'll sell their books by mail-order, but only in Japan. Can you order their books for me?
Why won't you let me type the name of the circle or doujinshi in Japanese kana or kanji (or just paste it in from a web site I found it on) when I place an order?
I want my book sent by EMS, not Air Mail.
Please get me any hentai doujinshi with Character A x Character B. I don't care what particular book it is or what circle produces it!
I want a doujinshi from a certain anime (or manga or live-action TV show or movie), but they seem to be pretty rare, so I don't know a certain book title or circle name to ask for. I'm not fussy; I don't care which characters it features, or if it's a humorous book or serious book or has adult content or whatever. Would you consider taking this as an order?
Why don't you accept orders without a complete name and mailing address?
Any other questions? Please write us at kirinpro@gmail.com.
RETURN TO THE KIRINPRO KANSAI HOMEPAGE
KirinPro Kansai consists of two people. Ms. Carlton lives in Japan and does the searching, buying, packaging and mailing, and manages our website. Ms. Visminas lives in the USA, relays orders via e-mail, handles KirinPro correspondence and deposits payments.
The process, step by step, is:
We're very sorry, but there have just been too many cases of minors having us search for books that turned out to have adult content. We will not sell books with adult content to minors, period. So as of March 2005, to make sure searching time is being put to its best use, we have only accepted orders from someone aged 18 or older.
Almost! Due to reports of postal delivery problems, we are currently not accepting orders to be sent to Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru, the Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, or Thailand.
We're very sorry, but we purchase new doujinshi directly from circles only at events, not through the mail. All too often, circles don't ship books immediately; some only ship every other month. On average, the fastest way to acquire a book is directly from the circle at an event. Chances are, if you look around that circle's website a bit more, you'll likely find a page listing what events they plan to attend in the near future. You're certainly welcome to place an Event Pickup order with us for that book; our order form includes a space for you to list the circle's URL, which we then consult to learn when and where we can complete your order.
We need to be able to read your order e-mail on both a Windows machine and a Mac. Unfortunately, one or the other invariably has problems when someone submits their order in any of the several kana and kanji encodings that exist (EUC, JIS, Shift JIS, etc.). So please type the name using the roman alphabet (the letters typically used when writing English words). Please be sure to also let us know a URL where we can see the cover of the book you're requesting.
We're sorry, but we currently do not send books by EMS. It requires a half-hour bike ride just to get to a post office that can do it; Air Mail can be sent from a post office that's much closer. If the situation changes in the future, we will consider shipping by EMS. But for now, we ship only by Air Mail. Please do not ask us to make a special exception for you.
We're sorry, but we aren't able to accept orders like this. If you aren't looking for a particular book, we don't know if you would be happy with what we find.
We would consider it, although we cannot promise we'll say yes in the end. It helps your chances if doujinshi for the genre really are scarce and it is an anime, manga, etc. that we happen to like ourselves.
We certainly understand any hesitancy anyone may feel sending their name and mailing address over the Internet. However, we need to do this for our own protection. We've had people crap out on us before--they submit a list of books to buy, we bought them, and
then they never paid up. We don't pass any of our customers' information on to anyone else, period. This page was created June 1, 2003. Updated April 8, 2006.
